Brookhaven Celebrates Young Artists, Encourages Exploration of "Everyday Wonders" in Student Art Show

The Brookhaven Youth Bureau is inviting students in grades 7 through 12 to participate in the 2026 Brookhaven’s Got Talent Student Art Show.

 

This year’s theme, “Everyday Wonders That Make Me Smile,” inspires young artists to explore simple moments of joy through art.

 

Students can submit original photos, paintings, or drawings online—accompanied by a signed parent or guardian consent form.

 

The submission deadline is April 22, 2026.

 

Selected works will be showcased at Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville on April 28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with artwork displayed throughout May in the second-floor Galleria.

 

Families and residents are encouraged to attend and celebrate the creativity of Brookhaven’s youth.

Brookhaven's Thrilling Summer Program: Music, Sports, and Community Reconnect!

Brookhaven Supervisor Dan Panico has announced the highly anticipated return of the Safe Summer Program for local teens and young adults.

 

This free, supervised initiative provides community youth ages 13 to 20 with a welcoming space to enjoy summer nights without drugs or alcohol.

 

Hosted by the Brookhaven Youth Bureau and Suffolk County Police Department, the program offers live music, sports, and social gatherings throughout July and early August 2026.

 

Events will take place at Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai on Thursday evenings, Martha Avenue Park in Bellport from Tuesday to Thursday, and Mastic Athletic Complex on Wednesday through Friday nights.

 

Sessions run from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, giving teens a chance to connect, build friendships, and feel supported within their community.

 

Local families are encouraged to participate and help make this summer safe and memorable for Brookhaven youth.

Bayport-Blue Point School District is celebrating a vibrant spring, marked by outstanding student achievements and dynamic programming at every level.

 

Two high school students took center stage as lead participants at the Suffolk County Regional Forum, reflecting the district’s strong commitment to nurturing future leaders with county-wide impact.

 

Meanwhile, the school community is alive with activity. The high school music department is preparing eagerly for spring concerts, while athletic teams have kicked off their competitive spring seasons.

 

At Blue Point Elementary, children experienced the excitement of “Red Carpet Night” alongside the Scholastic Book Fair, bringing families together for fun and literacy.

 

The Academy’s recent “Secret World of Robots” assembly encouraged young learners to explore STEM and technology.

 

With 53 clubs and honor societies, the district ensures every student can discover activities that inspire them.

Bayport-Blue Point schools are experiencing an inspiring growth in robotics, as students from elementary through high school take on creative projects and competitions.

 

Leading the charge, James Wilson Young Middle School’s RoboPhantoms and Brainstormers teams have gained remarkable recognition.

 

The Brainstormers crafted a child-friendly scuba diving signal guide, boosting underwater safety, while the RoboPhantoms invented "SPOCK," a prototype designed to speed oyster growth and help restore local marine life.

 

Both teams earned top Long Island rankings and spots in major international competitions.

 

Bayport-Blue Point High School has now launched the RoboPhantoms #27168 robotics club, where students weekly develop STEM skills and teamwork as they tackle the FIRST Tech Challenge.

 

District investments are expanding clubs, science programs, and special education, creating a well-rounded educational ecosystem.
