Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center will host actress Isabella Rossellini on Saturday, Oct. 3, for a day-long series of films by her father, director Roberto Rossellini. The event marks the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment. Double Feature at 1 p.m.
The afternoon opens with "The Miracle" (1948), the second part of Rossellini's "Amore" series, about a pregnant woman who believes she is carrying the child of Saint Joseph. It's followed by "Flowers of St. Francis" (1950), a series of vignettes on the lives of the original Franciscan monks. Main Feature at 7:30 p.m.
The evening feature, "Europe '51" (1952), follows a wealthy woman who turns to humanitarian work after her young son dies by suicide. Isabella Rossellini will lead an open discussion with the audience once the film ends. Tickets are $35 for the full event package or $15 for the matinee only. Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center is located at 20 Terry Street, Suite 121, in Patchogue.
