Independent Record Label Finds a New Home in the Patchogue Area |
401K Music teams with Record Stop on a limited-edition vinyl release |

An independent record label with ties to some of the biggest names in alternative music now calls the Patchogue area home.
401K Music, founded by music industry veteran Veronica Gretton, spent more than a decade in New York City and Brooklyn before moving to Patchogue during the pandemic.
Gretton says the village's growing arts and music scene won her over quickly. After years of city life, she never expected Patchogue to become home, but the community and its energy changed her mind.
A Resume Built on Legends
Gretton's career runs through the heart of alternative and new wave music, including past work with The Cure, The Stone Roses, Talking Heads and the Ramones.
From its Patchogue base, the label still works with established acts like The B-52's and Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder, along with newer bands such as Ambulance Ltd, Strawberry Fuzz and The Drums.
Vinyl With a Local Twist
Now the label is partnering with Record Stop in Patchogue on a limited-edition vinyl release featuring two up-and-coming indie bands.
Record Stop will carry an exclusive pre-release. The bands and release details have not been announced yet.
Gretton says releasing new music close to home, through an independent shop, is what makes the project especially meaningful to her.
A Village Music Staple
Record Stop has been part of Long Island's music scene since 1974. Its Patchogue store sells vinyl, CDs and music equipment, and it doubles as a gathering spot for musicians and fans.
The shop also has a dedicated performance space for live music and events, adding to Patchogue's growing arts and entertainment scene.
For collectors, the message is simple: keep an eye on Record Stop, because a limited pressing is not likely to last long. |
