NYS Senator Dean Murray (R,C - East Patchogue) delivered a $500,000 State and Municipal (SAM) grant to the Patchogue Fire District to fund a new fire boat, strengthening the district's ability to respond on the Great South Bay and surrounding waterways.
A six-year wait The Patchogue Fire District first applied for the grant more than six years ago. The funding stalled amid political obstacles until Murray took office in January 2023 and made securing delayed fire district grants a priority. "This is a day worth celebrating," Murray said. "Every day for the last 4 years, I've fought to help secure this funding."
What the boat means for Patchogue The new fire boat strengthens the district's ability to respond to fires, rescues, and emergencies affecting residents, boaters, and visitors along coastal Patchogue.
