Issue #350

Jun 15, 2026

Good Morning,

Today’s newsletter reflects the full range of life in our community. We celebrate a historic season for Bayport-Blue Point boys tennis, recognize a Patchogue-Medford senior’s service, and share important updates on local crime, safety, and business. We also look ahead to America’s 250th anniversary, summer events, a new Medford health center, and a Bayport orthodontist building a family-focused practice close to home.

The Bayport-Blue Point boys tennis team fall in finals.

The Bayport-Blue Point boys tennis team saw their historic season come to an end in the state Division II final, falling 3-0 to Byram Hills. The Phantoms entered the championship match on a 17-0 run that included their first-ever Long Island championship, but were dealt a devastating blow when senior No. 1 singles player Luke Jensen suffered a burst appendix on Thursday, forcing the team to forfeit his match spot. Despite the setback, Bayport-Blue Point rallied to defeat Jamesville-DeWitt 3-1 in the semifinals behind victories from Eric Swinkin in first singles, and both doubles teams. Coach John Selvaggio praised the team resilience, noting they learned valuable lessons from the experience.
