A fire broke out at a home in Bellport. Police responded to the scene and assisted firefighters in extinguishing the flames.No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Brainstormers crafted a child-friendly scuba diving signal guide, boosting underwater safety, while the RoboPhantoms invented "SPOCK," a prototype designed to speed oyster growth and help restore local marine life.

Both teams earned top Long Island rankings and spots in major international competitions.

Bayport-Blue Point High School has now launched the RoboPhantoms #27168 robotics club, where students weekly develop STEM skills and teamwork as they tackle the FIRST Tech Challenge.

District investments are expanding clubs, science programs, and special education, creating a well-rounded educational ecosystem.

Fundraisers and local STEM events further spotlight the students’ technical passion and commitment to community impact.

The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts announces its 2026 Gala featuring rock legend Melissa Etheridge. The annual fundraiser supports the nonprofit theatre's mission to enrich and educate through performing arts.

• Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center is bringing EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert to Patchogue for a special run from March 13 through March 18. 

• Patchogue Lioness Lions Club and Patchogue Ambulance Company are hosting a community blood drive in honor of Olivia “Liv” Schaaf, a 3 year old girl who was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and is beginning a long road of treatment. The blood drive will take place on Monday, March 16 from 1:00 to 7:00 pm at 336 W. Main Street in Patchogue, with walk ins welcome and appointments available by contacting the New York Blood Center.

• Brookhaven Highway Department is hosting a free  Child Safety Seat Check on Thursday, March 26. Appointments are required.
