Minor Arrested In Domestic Incident At Bellport High School, Second Visit Called Non-Criminal

Suffolk police say a minor was arrested Thursday following a domestic incident at Bellport High School, then were called back to the school Friday for a second matter they're describing as non-criminal. The superintendent sent a letter to families saying the district has zero tolerance for violence, drugs, or weapons, and the district previously cut more than $530,000 from its security budget amid a $10 million shortfall. 1 Hurt In 2-Vehicle Crash In North Bellport

A 2016 Jeep rear-ended a 2020 Toyota SUV on Horseblock Road at Old Town Road just before 9 a.m. Tuesday, Suffolk police said. The Toyota's driver was taken to NYU Langone Hospital, Suffolk in East Patchogue with non-life-threatening injuries, and the Jeep's driver was not hurt. Read Full Story →

State Sen. Dean Murray and Suffolk County officials are calling for a third lane on Sunrise Highway between Patchogue and Moriches, saying the current bottleneck causes accidents and slows emergency response. The DOT says there is no funded plan yet for that stretch.

New Pediatric Urgent Care Opens In Medford

Allied Physicians Group has opened its first pediatric urgent care center in Medford, at 2799 Rte. 112, Suite 11, with a second location in Franklin Square.
