Good Morning
Road work, crime, and a tragic crash lead the headlines across our area. From planned water main work in Bellport to serious incidents in Patchogue and Bay Shore, there is much for residents to know. At the same time, local groups are coming together for cleanups, celebrations, and spring events that bring the community closer.

Water Main Replacement on Country Club Road |
The Suffolk County Water Authority will begin replacing the water main on Country Club Road in Bellport starting on or about May 7, 2026. The work may cause temporary water service interruptions and road closures in the area. Read full story → |
Patchogue Man Accused of Stabbing Ex-Girlfriend's Son |
A Patchogue man is facing up to 25 years in prison after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend's 22-year-old son multiple times. The incident occurred following a domestic dispute. The suspect was arrested and is being held pending further court proceedings. Read full story → |
Pedestrian Killed in Overnight Bay Shore Crash |
A pedestrian was killed in an overnight crash in Bay Shore. The driver initially fled the scene but later returned according to the District Attorney. The incident is under investigation and charges are pending. Read full story → |
Bellport Fire Department Celebrates 133 Years at Installation Dinner |
The Bellport Fire Department held their installation dinner Saturday evening celebrating 133 years of service. Assemblyman DeStefano swore in 1st Assistant Chief Lance Macioce and 2nd Assistant Chief Gilberto Santana. Rudy Sunderman Jr. swore in Chief Jason Crane. Councilman Michael A. Loguercio Jr. swore in Captain Paul Neumann, 1st Lieutenant Dan Palmer and 2nd Lieutenant Gino Cruz. Read full story → |
Video Shows Bayport Crash on Sunrise Highway |
Dashcam footage shows a 2022 BMW sliding across eastbound Sunrise Highway near Nicolls Road in Bayport, striking the guardrail and ejecting both occupants. The driver was hospitalized with serious injuries while the passenger sustained minor injuries. Police are investigating the cause of the crash. Read full story → |
