A 4-year-old was rescued after being kidnapped from a Long Island laundromat. 
Police arrested the suspect and the child is safe.

The stolen American Revolutionary War marker was returned to Patchogue Cemetery. It was stolen in 2021 before being found and replaced.

Beth Giacummo, Executive Director of the Patchogue Arts Council, will be honored as Member of the Year at the Brookhaven Chambers Coalition Awards Night on April 22.

The Brookhaven Youth Bureau is inviting students in grades 7 through 12 to participate in the 2026 Brookhaven’s Got Talent Student Art Show.

This year’s theme, “Everyday Wonders That Make Me Smile,” inspires young artists to explore simple moments of joy through art.

Students can submit original photos, paintings, or drawings online—accompanied by a signed parent or guardian consent form.

The submission deadline is April 22, 2026.

Selected works will be showcased at Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville on April 28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with artwork displayed throughout May in the second-floor Galleria.

Families and residents are encouraged to attend and celebrate the creativity of Brookhaven’s youth.

• The Bellport Fire Department is now accepting vendor registrations for their annual Bellport Fire Department Craft Fair, happening on Saturday, July 25th. If you're a vendor, maker, or local artisan, this is a great chance to showcase your work.

• 2026 YMCA 5K Series Annual Run for a Cause, with the Patchogue Family YMCA 5K Run and Walk is happening Sunday, April 19, 2026 at Shorefront Park in memory of Gary Olsen. 

• Patchogue Medford Youth & Community Services is hosting its annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at the North Patchogue Fire Department with two seatings from 8 to 9:30 AM and 10 to 11:30 AM. Tickets are $20 for adults 18 and up, $10 for kids ages 5 to 17, and free for children under 5.

• Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center is screening MIDWINTER BREAK from March 27 through April 2 at its theater on Terry Street in Patchogue. You can check showtimes and details directly with Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center.

A Bad Bunny look-alike contest is being held on Long Island, inviting fans to show off their resemblance to the Latin music star.

• NYS Senator Dean Murray is reminding local students that his Student Photo Contest is coming to an end, giving kids in grades 9 through 12 one last chance to submit an original photo by April 1.

The Village of Bellport announces a  special election for a new village trustee. 
Residents can vote to fill the vacancy. April 7 is the day

• Monday MoCA Movie Night FREE SCREENING with PAC & PLAZA

The Bayport-Blue Point Heritage Association  is hosting its April meeting with a fascinating look at the Roosevelt girls of Meadow Croft.  The presentation will take place on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
