Carters Closing 150 Stores Including Patchogue Location
The childrens clothing retailer Carters is closing 150 stores nationwide this year, including its Patchogue location at 499 Sunrise Highway. The company has 11 stores on Long Island. The closures come as the company faces financial pressure from tariffs and rising costs. Read full story β†’
Eta Aquariids Meteor Shower Peaks Over Long Island Skies
The Eta Aquariids meteor shower is peaking over Long Island skies this week, with potential to see up to 30 meteors per hour. Created by debris from Halleys Comet, these fast-moving shooting stars travel at 148000 miles per hour. The best viewing is in the hours before dawn with a dark unobstructed sky. β€’ Ho-Hum Beach Pre-Season Cleanup – Join the Bellport Village Hall and Environment Committee for a community cleanup at Ho-Hum Beach on Saturday, May 16 from 11 AM to 1 PM. Meet at the ferry dock at 10:45 AM, ferry departs at 11 AM sharp. Trash bags and gloves provided. Bring water and sunscreen. No sign-up required. Rain date: Sunday, May 17.

Bayport Native Wins CAA Field Athlete of the Week
A Bayport native and Bayport-Blue Point High School alumna has been named CAA Womens Field Athlete of the Week. The Towson University senior set a new program record in the high jump at the East Coast Relays, clearing 1.82m (5 feet 11.5 inches) to break a 19-year-old school record.
