Blizzard Brings Bans, Closures, Delays

Brian Grant
Feb 23, 2026
Good Morning,
A powerful winter storm is sweeping across our area, bringing travel bans, states of emergency, and changes to sanitation and parking rules in Patchogue, Bellport, and beyond.
Beyond the storm, there is more happening close to home. Bayport-Blue Point High School earned a silver honor for its strong AP program. And Patchogue’s growing arts scene is now easier to explore with a new digital guide that puts local culture right at your fingertips.

❄️ The Village of Patchogue has declared a local State of Emergency effective immediately due to the winter storm, with Mayor Paul V. Pontieri Jr. ordering that no vehicles remain parked on any street once snow accumulation exceeds two inches. The order, dated February 22 at 12:00 p.m., states that parking on all streets is prohibited during the emergency and may continue for 24 hours after snowfall ends, and violations are considered a criminal offense under village and state law. Residents may park their vehicles in the LI Railroad Station lot. [Village of Patchogue Local Emergency Order] |
