A woman was injured during a necklace snatching incident in Medford. The police are investigating the incident that left the victim hurt.

Due to a heating issue at Yaphank jail, 25 inmates were moved to temporary housing.  The inmates will be relocated until the heating problem is fixed.

The Patriot League announced the Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for February 9, 2026 including a Bayport resident. 

A Patchogue woman claimed a million-dollar raffle prize from the NY Lottery. 
She received $661,800 as her prize after taxes were deducted.

• Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts is hosting Taylorville, an unofficial live band celebrating the music of  Taylor Swift on Sunday, February 22. 

Lighthouse Mission is hosting a free Easter art contest for local artists of all ages, with every entry set to be displayed in an art gallery at the mission’s main building in Bellport. The contest is open now and runs through Friday, March 6.

Bayport Blue Point High School PTSA is inviting local families to a community conversation about kids and technology with a free event called PTA Connected Create with Kindness on Thursday, February 26, 2026. The program runs from 6:30 to 7:30 pm and is sponsored by TikTok, focusing on online experiences, digital well being, and practical tips families can use together, with refreshments and raffle prizes included.
