Watch Hill Hotel Proposal Returns With Rooftop Pool, More Guest Rooms and Expanded Event Space

The proposed Watch Hill Hotel returned before the Village of Patchogue Planning Board with a series of design amendments that would add new amenities while maintaining the project's overall footprint and waterfront vision.

During a special meeting, the Planning Board approved changing the applicant's name to Watch Hill Hotel Group LLC after the owners confirmed a revised ownership structure. Officials also clarified that the board has no authority over the developer's reported request for tax incentives, noting that any such decisions are handled by other agencies.

Project representatives unveiled plans for a rooftop infinity pool overlooking Patchogue Bay, two executive suites, a relocated fitness center, a pergola-covered outdoor dining area, and a reduced rooftop restaurant seating capacity of about 150 guests. The proposal also increases the first-floor event space to approximately 5,000 square feet with capacity for 250 to 300 people, while converting previously approved apartment units into hotel rooms, bringing the total to 122 guest rooms. Representatives said the changes better position the hotel to accommodate conferences, weddings, and business travelers.

Developers also announced the project will operate as a Hilton Tapestry Collection hotel rather than the previously proposed Hilton Tempo brand. They said the change allows greater flexibility to incorporate Patchogue's history and character into the hotel's design while remaining part of the Hilton family.

Planning Board members expressed support for many of the proposed improvements but requested additional information regarding parking, valet operations, traffic management, and rooftop activity. Board members asked the applicant to submit a detailed parking plan before construction begins and discussed concerns about amplified music, rooftop gatherings, and the impact of larger events on nearby neighborhoods. Residents also voiced concerns about parking availability, traffic congestion, and late-night activity associated with weddings and conferences.

The board will continue reviewing the requested amendments before taking final action on the revised hotel plans.
