Village Vintage Thrift Store Opens In Patchogue With Secondhand Finds |
Ayse Guvenir and Atahan Demir turn a South Ocean Avenue storefront into a theatrical thrift experience |

A new thrift store with a theatrical streak has opened on South Ocean Avenue in Patchogue. Village Vintage, opened in June by Ayse Guvenir and Atahan Demir, offers a rotating selection of secondhand clothing, estate jewelry, antiques and curiosities for men and women.
"We gather secondhand clothing, estate jewelry, antiques and curiosities, then arrange them like a stage set you get to walk through," said Guvenir, 31. She and Demir are distant relatives who grew up and went to college in Turkey.
The pair designed the shop to feel like an experience, complete with a mirrored ceiling, magenta walls and a photo booth. Plans are in the works for tarot readings and music-related events, and the store stays open until 8 p.m.
Merchandise ranges from everyday denim to sparkly eveningwear, handbags and shoes, with most items priced between $10 and $300; a pair of consignment Christian Louboutin pumps runs $850.
"We don't want people to dig through to find some gold," Demir said. "It's all gold."
