Vespa Italian Kitchen & Cocktails Coming to Downtown Patchogue This Summer |
Popular Long Island restaurant group transforms former Cuban space at 93 W. Main Street |
Downtown Patchogue's dining scene is about to get a major boost. Vespa Italian Kitchen & Cocktails, a successful Long Island restaurant group, is opening its third location this summer in the heart of the village.
Owner Benedetto LoManto signed the lease for 93 W. Main Street two weeks ago and expects to open the second week of July. The space was previously home to The Cuban, which closed last November after six years in business.
Third Location for Growing Restaurant Group
This marks the third Vespa location on Long Island. The original opened in Farmingdale back in 2016, followed by a second location at Ronkonkoma's Station Yards last June. The LoManto restaurant group also operates Harleys American Grille, with locations in Farmingdale and Huntington.
"The customers on Long Island are amazing," LoManto said in a phone interview. "They've been so supportive. That's what gives me the courage to open up in another area."
What to Expect at Vespa Patchogue
The buildout will take about four months, LoManto estimates. Since the space was already a restaurant, most of the work is cosmetic rather than fundamental. He pegs it at about 85% esthetics.
The new Patchogue location will mirror the Ronkonkoma menu with one notable exception. Pizza won't be available due to the smaller kitchen space. There simply isn't enough room to make and ferment dough properly, LoManto explained.
That still leaves about 80% of the menu identical to the other Vespa locations. Diners can expect classic Italian dishes, fresh ingredients, and the restaurant's signature cocktails.
One exciting upgrade planned specifically for Patchogue is an exposed wine room with tempered glass walls. The feature will add visual interest and showcase the restaurant's wine selection.
Why This Matters for Patchogue
The arrival of Vespa Italian Kitchen represents another vote of confidence in downtown Patchogue's ongoing revitalization. When established restaurant groups choose to expand into the village, it signals strength in the local market.
LoManto specifically mentioned his excitement about being part of the changes happening in Patchogue Village. The transformation of an empty storefront into a thriving restaurant keeps Main Street vibrant and gives residents another quality dining option close to home.
For local residents who remember The Cuban, this also provides closure. The space won't sit empty for long. Instead, it's getting a new chapter with a proven restaurant concept.
What Comes Next
The restaurant aims to open in mid-July, just in time for summer dining season. The location on Main Street puts it in the heart of downtown foot traffic, near other popular restaurants, shops, and the Patchogue Theatre.
Vespa Italian Kitchen & Cocktails will join a diverse downtown dining lineup that includes everything from casual cafes to upscale bistros. The variety gives residents and visitors plenty of reasons to explore Main Street.
As renovations begin in the coming weeks, downtown Patchogue continues to evolve. Each new business opening strengthens the village's reputation as a destination for dining, entertainment, and community gathering.
Keep an eye on 93 W. Main Street this spring as construction progresses. By summer, Patchogue will have a new spot for Italian cuisine and cocktails in the heart of the village.
