Patchogue's Italian Feast of Saint Liberata Returns for Its 59th Year |
The Sept. 26 celebration on Main Street brings a procession, car show, bocce tournament, wine walk, and zeppole-eating contest to downtown Patchogue |

The Feast of Saint Liberata returns to downtown Patchogue on Saturday, Sept. 26, marking the event's 59th year. The rain date is Saturday, Oct. 3. The celebration runs from noon to 5 p.m. on Main Street. This year's honoree is Linda Locantore. Procession and ceremony The traditional procession begins at noon in front of the Suffolk County District Court. The official ceremony follows at 12:45 p.m. on the Four Corners. Car show and bocce tournament Downtown Patchogue hosts the Lou Giordano Classic and Italian Car Show throughout the afternoon. The annual bocce ball tournament takes place on the lawn of the Sixth District Court and Teen Center at the Patchogue-Medford Carnegie Library. Family activities and entertainment Family-friendly festivities include face painting, team games, a magician, and a balloon maker. Entertainment runs throughout the feast. Food, wine, and the zeppole contest Participating restaurants will offer wine tastings as part of the ninth annual "Vino in the Village" wine walk. A zeppole-eating contest is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Money pinned to the statue of Saint Liberata during the feast will be donated to St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C.
