A new piece of public art is about to get its official welcome in Patchogue.

A ribbon cutting for the mural “Resilience Grows Hope” is set for Friday, October 16, at 12:30 PM.

The large-scale work by artist Jonathan Horowitz is installed at NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Patchogue, 196 East Main Street.

A reception follows immediately afterward at the Patchogue Arts Council • MoCA L.I., 20 Terry Street.

Organizers are inviting community members, elected officials, and cultural partners to join both events.

The mural turns an everyday health care building into a more welcoming public space.

Its flowing, organic forms and uplifting visual language speak to growth, resilience, and hope.

For patients, staff, and neighbors passing by, it offers a daily reminder of those themes.

The project was created through the New York State Council on the Arts CHARM Initiative, with support from the Office of the Governor.

The Patchogue Arts Council • MoCA L.I. facilitated the work, and it is Long Island’s only facilitating organization for the initiative across Suffolk and Nassau counties.

This week’s Patchogue celebration is one stop in a larger story.

Four murals by four artists are being celebrated across two counties during New York State Mural Week, October 11 to 17.

The first celebration took place Monday, October 12, at Station Yards in Ronkonkoma.

There, ribbon cuttings honored murals by artists Lula Goce and Jenna Morello, whose piece is titled “Passing Through.”

On Thursday, October 15, at noon, the spotlight moves to Seaford Public Library in Nassau County.

Artist Tess Parker’s mural there reimagines the library’s architecture as a visual story about art, imagination, and community.

Statewide, the 2026 CHARM Initiative has supported 42 new public artworks across 31 counties.

Public art like this does more than decorate a wall.

Supporters say it builds connection, sparks conversation, and gives residents shared landmarks.

Organizers describe Friday’s event as another milestone in Patchogue’s continued cultural growth.

The ribbon cutting is Friday, October 16, at 12:30 PM at NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Patchogue, 196 East Main Street.

Questions can be directed to the Patchogue Arts Council • MoCA L.I. at (631) 627-8686.
