The Gateway in Bellport will welcome the Modern Silent Shorts Northeast tour, bringing an evening of contemporary silent films paired with live original music to the local community. The initiative, founded in 2023, commissions emerging filmmakers to create dialogue-free short films that rely on visual storytelling, while musicians perform live scores during each screening. The project was inspired by classic silent film presentations and has grown into a traveling program that introduces modern audiences to a timeless cinematic format.

The touring program features seven short films spanning animation, comedy, horror, and drama. Each screening is accompanied by a live ensemble, creating a unique experience where film and music come together in real time. Organizers say the format encourages audiences to focus on visual expression while sharing a communal arts experience.

The Gateway's selection as a Northeast tour stop highlights the Bellport venue's continued role in bringing diverse performing arts experiences to Long Island. Community members interested in independent film, live music, or innovative storytelling are encouraged to attend and support this distinctive event.
