Patchogue-Medford Youth & Community Services Strengthens Families, One Neighbor at a Time |
Resources at our community center and support from nonprofit patchogue |

For more than four decades, Patchogue-Medford Youth & Community Services has worked to strengthen local families by connecting children and adults with counseling, education, recreation and essential support services. Founded in 1982, PMYCS is a nonprofit organization focused on improving quality of life through outreach, counseling, educational programs and community assistance. The organization operates from its community center at 390 Bay Avenue and also provides services within the Patchogue-Medford School District.
The need for family support remains significant. New York State Education Department data for the 2022-23 school year showed that 47 percent of students in the Patchogue-Medford School District were economically disadvantaged. (New York State Education Department Data) PMYCS works to address challenges facing families before they become larger obstacles by providing youth and family counseling, after-school activities, mentoring and other programs.
Its assistance extends beyond counseling. Programs include a food pantry and clothes closet, seasonal activities and holiday assistance. Services are offered in English and Spanish, helping the organization reach families throughout the diverse Patchogue-Medford community.
Community support plays an important role in keeping those services accessible. Residents can contribute through donations, volunteer involvement and participation in PMYCS programs and fundraising efforts. Those interested in receiving services, supporting the organization or learning about opportunities to get involved can call 631-758-4100 or email samantha@pmycs.org.
