Fire safety lessons took center stage as local students paid a special visit to the Bayport Fire Department this week.

Children eager to learn about emergency response enjoyed a close-up look at the firehouse during their firehouse visit bayport activity.

The crew welcomed students with open arms, inviting them to climb aboard the trucks that residents often spot racing down Main Street.

Inside, students tried out real fire hoses and saw the protective gear that firefighters wear to stay safe on the job.

Teachers said the kids’ excitement was contagious, as many had never been inside a firehouse before.

Local leaders point out that these educational visits instill confidence in kids and help them react calmly if fire safety ever becomes a personal reality.
