Brookhaven, NY — This year marks a historic milestone for the Town of Brookhaven as it celebrates 250 years of American history. The celebration brings together residents from Patchogue to Coram, Farmingville to Ridge, for a year-long series of events honoring the town's rich heritage and community spirit.

The Town of Brookhaven has planned an ambitious calendar of events designed to bring the community together while honoring two and a half centuries of American history. From environmental initiatives to historical reenactments, there's something for every resident to enjoy.

 

Spring Events: Green Initiatives

Free Seedling Giveaways
Throughout the spring, Brookhaven is offering free seedling giveaways to residents. Multiple species are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. These giveaways support the town's commitment to environmental stewardship and green spaces.

 

Compost and Rain Barrel Pickup
May 1 | 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM | Town Hall
Residents who pre-ordered composters and rain barrels can pick them up at Town Hall. Orders must be placed by April 29 through the Brookhaven Composter Sale website. This program supports sustainable gardening and water conservation across the town.

 

Mulch and Compost Available
Free mulch and compost remain available for Brookhaven residents throughout the season, supporting home gardens and landscaping projects across the township.

 

Summer Celebrations: History and Entertainment

Town Board Meeting at Davis House

Step back in time with this unique theatrical mock Town Board meeting held at the historic Davis House. Featuring period attire, old-style agendas, and themed resolutions, this immersive experience brings Brookhaven's past to life in an engaging and entertaining way. Freedom Fest 2026 at Catholic Health Amphitheater

Longwood Estate Country Fair
September 19-20 | Longwood Estate, corner of Longwood Road and Smith Road, Ridge, NY 11960
The Longwood Estate Country Fair returns for a weekend of historical celebration. Admission is $5.00 per person (children 12 and under are free). The fair features live performances by South Bound, historical reenactments, children's activities, house museum tours, a Dog Show, craft vendors, and more.

 

NEW for 2026: Join for after-hours Beer Tent with live music, adding evening entertainment to this beloved annual tradition.
