On April 7, 2026, Bellport Village held a special election to fill the trustee seat vacated by Steve Mackin. The election saw two candidates vying for the position: Dan Polner and Jean-Damien Lury.
The results were as follows:
Dan Polner received 168 votes at the ballot box and 33 absentee ballots, totaling 201 votes.
Jean-Damien Lury garnered 118 votes at the ballot box and 69 absentee ballots, totaling 187 votes.
With these results, Dan Polner has been elected as the new trustee. He will serve the remainder of the term from April 7, 2026, through June 30, 2026. This special election was necessitated by the resignation of Steve Mackin, effective December 31, 2025. Looking ahead, the regular village election is scheduled for June 16, 2026. Residents are encouraged to participate actively in the democratic process and stay informed about upcoming village board meetings and community events.
