Bayport Orthodontics brings a personal, family-focused approach to local care

Dr. Lindsay Alimena built her independent Bayport practice around relationships, early education, and treating each patient as a whole person.

Dr Alemena

When Dr. Lindsay Alimena opened Bayport Orthodontics in late 2025, she wanted to create more than another place to get braces. She envisioned an independent, welcoming practice where families would have time to ask questions, understand their options, and develop a personal relationship with their doctor.

Originally from Huntington, Alimena has lived in Sayville since 2017, where she and her husband are raising two young boys. That community connection shaped everything about how she built her practice.

"I wanted something where I was serving the community that I lived in," she said. "There's such a strong sense of community here. People show up for each other."

Looking beyond straight teeth

Alimena is a board-certified orthodontist and a recognized Kois Center specialist, with advanced training that shapes how she approaches every patient. Rather than focusing on teeth alone, she considers facial development, jaw function, bite alignment, and airway health together.

That perspective became deeply personal after her own children experienced airway-related concerns. She found herself having to advocate for them even as a practicing specialist.

"Parents have to be advocates for their own kids," she said. "I'm in this field, and I still had to advocate for my children to make sure they were getting the proper care."

Did you know? The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a child's first orthodontic evaluation by age seven, even if no treatment is needed yet..

An office designed to feel different

Bayport Orthodontics is a boutique, independently owned practice, intentionally different from the corporate direction many healthcare offices have taken. The space features natural light, calming colors, and murals by a local artist. Patients frequently comment on how welcoming it feels the moment they walk in.

"I'm a mom first," Alimena said. "I understand what it's like to juggle busy schedules, activities, school and everything else. I want orthodontic care to feel comfortable, approachable and as stress-free as possible."

Part of the community

From sponsoring school fundraisers and PTAs to hosting Girl Scout troops for educational office tours, Alimena has made community involvement central to the practice. She has also visited local schools to teach children about brushing and healthy food habits.

As the practice grows, she plans to expand those partnerships and participate in local events like Sayville Summerfest. "We're always looking for new ways to make orthodontic care more accessible and enjoyable for families," she said.
