Art enthusiasts in Patchogue, Medford, Bellport, Bayport, and Blue Point have a wealth of engaging events to look forward to in early 2026.

 

On February 19, 2026, there is a special lecture with "Mexico: 1526–2026 | Post-Contact to Present."

 

This session examines the evolution of Mexican art and culture from the arrival of Cortés through the modern era, highlighting cycles of westernization, hybridization, and revival.

 

Topics include early codices, Baroque architecture, the rise of modernism, Mexican Muralism, and contemporary developments shaping Mexico's visual culture today.

 

Professor Germano will again lead this insightful discussion.

On March 12, 2026, the focus shifts to "Georgia O’Keeffe and the Transcendental Painting Group."

 

This presentation traces the parallel paths of O’Keeffe and her contemporaries, examining early modernist influences and the impact of the Southwest’s bright skies and stark landscapes on their work in the 1930s and ’40s.

In addition to these lectures, the Patchogue Arts Council is hosting an exhibition titled "Mexico; Past & Present," featuring works by Kelynn Z. Alder and curated by John Cino.

 

The exhibition runs from December 13, 2025, to February 22, 2026, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Long Island (MoCA L.I.).
