Brookhaven Wins National GovX Award for Document Accessibility |
The Town's DocAccess tool has made more than 13,000 government documents easier to use |

The Town of Brookhaven has been named a Project Winner in the 2026 Government Experience (GovX) Awards, the Town announced Friday, Oct. 16. The Center for Digital Government presented the national award for the Town's use of DocAccess, a tool that makes government documents more accessible.
The awards recognize state and local governments across the country for improving digital services and accessibility.
The Town launched DocAccess on its website in March 2026. It improved access to more than 13,000 government documents, giving residents an easier way to view Town information. The technology is meant to remove barriers to reading digital documents.
Brookhaven Town Supervisor Daniel J. Panico said the award shows how design, technology and partnerships can improve the way government delivers information. He said the Town will keep looking for practical ways to make dealing with Town government easier and more inclusive.
Rob Lloyd, executive director of the Center for Digital Government, said the winners show governments investing in being more responsive and accessible.
