Bayport Athletes Shine in Maritime Lacrosse NCAA Tournament Thriller
The Maritime College men's lacrosse team, featuring standout performances from Bayport natives Ryan Hannaford and Nick LiPuma, battled Scranton in a dramatic 15-14 overtime loss in the NCAA Tournament first round. Hannaford led the Privateers with four goals and two assists, while LiPuma added a spectacular acrobatic goal in a game that went down to the wire. Read full story →
Patchogue Hospital Earns 'B' Grade in National Safety Report
NYU Langone Hospital in Patchogue received a 'B' grade in the Spring 2026 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, which measure patient protection from medical errors, accidents, and infections. Bayport-Blue Point Boys Lacrosse Defeats Smithtown West
A young Bayport-Blue Point squad, starting seven sophomores, earned a hard-fought 7-5 victory over Smithtown West in Suffolk II boys lacrosse action. Sophomores Jamison Hawkins and Jack Shanahan each scored twice, while classmate Billy Eisfeld made eight saves in goal. The Town of Brookhaven hosts its Sixth Annual Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville. Ho-Hum Beach Pre-Season Cleanup – Join the Bellport Village Hall and Environment Committee for a community cleanup at Ho-Hum Beach on Saturday, May 16 from 11 AM to 1 PM. Meet at the ferry dock at 10:45 AM, ferry departs at 11 AM sharp. Trash bags and gloves provided. Bring water and sunscreen. No sign-up required. Rain date: Sunday, May 17.

Women Sharing Art, Inc. presents 'Awakening,' an all-media exhibition featuring works in painting, sculpture, photography, mosaic, mixed media, fiber, and more at BAFFA Art Gallery in Sayville. The exhibition runs May 1-31, 2026 with an opening reception and student art awards on May 2. The show celebrates the next generation of artists by recognizing student artists and awarding scholarships to local high school students.
