OCTOBER 12, 2026|Issue #399

Good Morning,

Happy Columbus Day. It’s a federal holiday, so post offices and federal offices are closed today. In the news this morning, MTA Police are searching for four people after a man was shot while boarding a train at the Bellport LIRR station on Friday. A man has also been sentenced to six years in prison for abusing three girls at the Medford T.J. Maxx. Congressman Andrew Garbarino marked the holiday with a tribute to Italian Americans on Long Island, and we have that story below.

It’s a busy week ahead. The Bellport Village Board of Trustees meets Tuesday, the Bellport Chamber holds its fall members meeting Wednesday, and the Owls on Gallery Glass workshop is Sunday. Halloween events are filling the calendar too, including Trunk or Treat in Bayport on Oct. 25 and Trick or Treat Street at Patchogue-Medford High School on Oct. 30.

Have a good week.
