Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Debuts New LED Uniform Patches — Complete With ‘Party Mode’ |
Advanced Light-Emitting Duty Technology promises brighter visibility and better morale |
The Suffolk County Sheriff's Office has unveiled a dazzling new addition to deputy uniforms: high-tech LED patches equipped with advanced Light-Emitting Duty Technology (LEDT).
According to the department, the new patches are designed to improve deputy visibility on roadways and help motorists identify law-enforcement personnel during traffic incidents. The rechargeable battery-powered patches feature adjustable brightness settings for various conditions.
But the feature generating the most buzz? A special "party mode" that allows the patches to change colors in sync with nearby music — strictly for morale purposes, the department notes.
Community members may notice the patches lighting up during routine patrols, traffic stops, and any situation where deputies are attempting to read paperwork in the dark. The Sheriff's Office encourages the public to wave — or enjoy the light show — as deputies test-drive this new uniform upgrade.
The patches represent the latest in law enforcement visibility technology, bringing a little extra brightness to Suffolk County streets.
Update: The Suffolk County Sheriff's Office confirmed this announcement was an April Fools' Day joke. While the LED patches aren't real, the department hopes the lighthearted post brought a smile to the community. |
