Patchogue Resident Honored by PSEG Long Island for Volunteer Work with Veterans |
Local measurement dispatcher among nearly 900 employees who contributed 8,000+ volunteer hours in 2025 |
PSEG Long Island recently honored its employees' commitment to community service by celebrating Good Samaritan Day.
Among those recognized was Karen Mowbray, a Measurement Dispatcher from Patchogue, whose dedication to volunteering has made a significant impact.
Throughout 2025, nearly 900 PSEG Long Island employees collectively contributed over 8,000 hours to various charitable activities.
These efforts included fundraising events, collection drives, and distribution programs aimed at supporting food-insecure and unhoused individuals, veterans, seniors, and environmental preservation initiatives.
Mowbray frequently volunteers at veterans' events, finding the experience deeply rewarding.
She shared that interacting with community members and witnessing their appreciation leaves her with a warm heart, knowing that their efforts have brightened someone's day.
Other dedicated volunteers recognized include Meghan Chambers of Massapequa, Gary DeFelice of Smithtown, Zach Elkort of New Hyde Park, and Danielle Neff of Farmingdale.
These individuals participated in distribution events for veterans held last fall, demonstrating a shared commitment to community service.
Scott Jennings, PSEG Long Island's president and chief operating officer, emphasized the company's dual role in strengthening communities.
He highlighted that while PSEG Long Island enhances physical infrastructure through storm hardening, its employees fortify community bonds through volunteerism and generosity.
He expressed gratitude for the dedication of employees like Mowbray, who embody the spirit of service on Good Samaritan Day and every day.
In addition to individual volunteer efforts, PSEG Long Island has been actively involved in various community initiatives.
For instance, during Earth Month, the company partnered with local organizations to distribute 500 trees to customers across Long Island and Far Rockaway, promoting energy conservation and environmental stewardship.
Furthermore, PSEG Long Island employees participated in the "Power to Feed Long Island" food collection event, where generous community members donated the equivalent of over 3,600 meals to support neighbors in need.
These collective efforts underscore PSEG Long Island's commitment to not only providing reliable electric service but also actively engaging in and supporting the communities they serve.
Through the dedication of employees like Karen Mowbray and the company's ongoing community initiatives, PSEG Long Island continues to make a positive impact across Suffolk County and beyond. |
